Mishap
A new record for a motorcycle run from Colorado Springs to the top of Pikes Peak, one of the most dangerous runs in the United States, was made yesterday when B.B. McReynolds, C. L. Reasoner and Arthur Stephens made the run in six hours and fifteen minutes from the city hall. From Cascade to the summit the time was five hours and fifteen minutes, as against the former record of nine hours held by Blake, Scheff and Davis of this city.
The Start from the city hall was made at 6:15 o'clock yesterday morning and the climb from Cascade over the trail to the summit of the peak began at 7:15 the party arrived at the top at 12:30 noon. The road was so bad for the last mile that riding was impossible owing to the number of boulders in the way and the party lost much time in pushing their machines and deviating from their course to avid obstructions.
The riders met with no accidents but they are satisfied to rest on their laurels and declare that they would not attempt the rise again for $200 in hand before they started.
